IP UCIMP DS participation in the meeting of the EECA Constituent of the Global Fund, Istanbul

between 03-06 December 2025, the executive director of IP UCIMP DS, Victor Burinschi, participated in the meeting of the members of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) Constituent of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, held in Istanbul, Turkey.

The main purpose of the event was to prepare the common position of the EECA region for the 54th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Global Fund, planned for February 2026, in Geneva.

Main topics covered

several strategic topics were discussed during the meeting, including:

• the selection process of the new Executive Director and the management of the Board of Directors of the Global Fund;
• mobilization of financial resources for the period 2026–2028 (Grant Cycle 8);
• the impact of the distribution of funds on the EECA region;
• the findings of the Office of the General Inspector regarding the institution's activity and budget.

Final decisions on the allocation of resources will be adopted during the February 2026 Board of Directors meeting, and states will be informed later through official allocation letters.

in this context, the need to increase the internal financial contribution to compensate for possible reductions in external funding was highlighted.

Participation in this meeting strengthens the involvement of the Republic of Moldova in regional and international health policy coordination processes and contributes to the promotion of national interests within the Global Fund.
